Council tax support is a means tested benefit (income and savings are taken into consideration) which will help you to pay your council tax. Any benefit awarded is deducted from your council tax bill.
Housing benefit is also a means tested benefit which will help you pay your rent. Any benefit awarded is paid straight into your bank account or by cheque.
Test and trace support payment
Government have announced a new financial package to support and enforce self-isolation.
In some circumstances, if you are required by law to self-isolate from the 28 September 2020, you may be supported by a payment of £500, payable from Havant Borough Council.
Changes in your circumstances
You should apply straightaway if you think you are eligible for council tax support and housing benefit as it is not always possible to backdate payments.
You should also let us know immediately if your circumstances change as any overpayment must be paid back to the council.
